Sports Bar and Restaurant

Walden Galleria Mall, Buffalo, New York

This project included an interior fit-out, facade modifications, and patio design for the construction of 4,362 sq. ft. Taps restaurant at the Walden Galleria Mall in Cheektowaga, New York. Taps is a restaurant concept that includes sports, entertainment and dining in a contemporary lounge setting, an ideal environment for game-day sports viewing.

The modern sports bar meets martini lounge setting includes numerous LCD video displays for game-day viewing, requiring close electrical coordination for the large amount of Audio/Visual Equipment. The interior materials include the use of wood, tin ceiling tiles, and rich earthy tones creating a lounge feel. The design of the bar became especially important as the Taps concept centers around its expansive selection of beers and specialty cocktails. TRM worked closely with the client creating material boards to help the client visualize design concepts and incorporated custom millwork, accent lighting at the bar, glass display shelving and translucent panels to help separate spaces and mount monitors while visually connecting spaces.

Through maintaining a strong budget focus and carefully assessing any design elements that could remain or be modified to fit into the new concept the project was completed successfully and under budget. TRM guided the client through equipment and bar layouts, walking them through the complicated process of assessing their kitchen needs, aided in the bidding process and providing construction administration. TRM also assisted in the creation of some marketing material for the client to aid in their goal of franchising more store locations. The client is currently working with TRM again on the design and construction of AJA, a martini bar and live entertainment night club concept located in the Destiny Mall in Syracuse pending LEED Registration, attesting to TRM’s responsiveness and professionalism to ease the client through the design and construction process. TRM’s expertise in the hospitality industry has lead to numerous long-term relationships with large and small restaurant clients both locally and across the country.
