From the initial concept through construction administration, TRM worked to produce a new state-of-the-art facility, creating a new vision for the school and the community of North Tonawanda as a whole. The 15,000 square foot Library and new main entry addition with second floor mezzanine supports 3 computer / community rooms.
The site design incorporates a large circular gathering area as an activity hub and gateway for this central area of the Meadow Campus. Before the construction this area had little activity. While the entry now acts as a connecting element, it also serves as a response to the school’s need to allow for “placemaking” for students.
The library’s main floor offers students an open, inviting, and conducive learning environment to study, to research, and to explore an infinite number of informational resources through a variety of media. The center’s dynamic glass wall provides a generous amount of natural light, while the overhead lighting fills the space with appropriate functional working levels.
The open spatial floor plan designates specific working areas for group work, individual research, and class instruction, while providing the flexibility to easily modify to facilitate special engagements or instruction.
While the entry now acts as a connecting element, it also serves as a response to the school’s need to allow for ‘placemaking’ for students.
