Founded in 1977, TRM Architect is a Western New York based architectural / engineering firm with strong local ties and a broad spectrum of diversified clients. As strategic partners and collaborators, our commitment is to provide our clients with creative, buildable, and sustainable designs. We pride ourselves on high standards for technical accuracy, accountability to budget control, and dedication to finding innovative solutions that work. At TRM Architect, we believe that endurable, environmentally responsible design and preservation of architectural resources is ultimately good for our clients and the greater community.

One of our greatest strengths here at TRM is the
wealth of experience that our rich history has
provided us. Since our conception in 1977, we've
grown with our long-standing clients, gained new
clients, moved a couple times to new homes
around Western New York, persevered through
tough times in our economy, and grown closer
as the tight-knit, family-oriented firm we started
out as and always will be.Today, at 38 years old, we have the privilege of not only being able to draw from our exposure to diversified project types and sizes, but also to take advantage of our particular sector expertise we have honed over the decades. Many of us at TRM have been here several decades, providing a certain stability and expertise that clients have found assuring and may be why we continue to be called upon to help get their project completed.

1996
- First firm strategic planning retreat
- Matthew Moscati joins firm full-time
1997
- Completed 100th Wilson Farms convenience store, Tonawanda, NY
- Became licensed in 10th state.
- First Planet Hollywood in Gurnee Mills, IL

- Commissioned by Disney Regional Entertainment as ESPN Zone design team leader
1999
- Niagara University Gallagher Center (NCAA Division I basketball arena)
- Firm grows to staff of 20, including 4 registered architects, and relocates to Allentown Historical District in Buffalo, NY
2003
- Lexington Real Foods Cooperative designed for Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo, NY
- Completed first The Cheesecake Factory in Kansas City, Missouri
2002
- Completed first LEED Registered project in Western New York
- First Erie County commission, Erie County Medical Center, multi-title term contract
1998
- Commissioned with Buffalo City Schools to modernize seven schools

- Designed a shell for Trustco Bank with adjacent retail in Lake George, NY
-Created a restaurant concept for Carmine’s including bar, restaurant and banquet facilities
2007
- Began working with YUM! Brands for franchisee BBG North
- Designed a new presidential party suite and various seating areas within Niagara University’s Dwyer Arena. $700,000.
- Completed the design on the $2.4 million dollar project to rehabilitate and convert Building 34 at SUNY Brockport.
-As part of Verizon FTTP term contract, completed a $4 million expansion of the existing generator room at the Verizon Video Hub Facility in Buffalo

- Veteran’s Association of WNY: Digital Radiology VA Building #6
- Devon Seafood, a new high-end seafood restaurant located in a high-rise, upscale condominium building, Chicago, IL

-Christian Youth Core of Machias: Home addition and remodel to accommodate two sons suffering from a chromosome disorder that requires oxygen and nursing attention.
- City of Buffalo Preservation Board Award for the rehabilitation of 591 Delaware
- Renovation of Niagara University's
Lynch Hall dormitory- Consulted on the demolition of the iconic
Wintergarden and repair of adjacent facades.- Began role as architect for Uncle Bob Self
Storage facilities throughout US East- TRM completed its first $1.3 million

- Completed Taps Galleria, a new lounge and restaurant concept at the Galleria Mall

- Repositioned an existing office building to accommodate Palladian Health offices alongside Houghton College’s Program for Accelerated College Education.
- Began consulting relationship with Solar Liberty on installing photo-voltaic panels.

- Developed prototype for Crosby’s Convenience stores and roll-out for site specific locations.
- Tenant fit-out of a Duty Free Americas location at the Rainbow Bridge

Careers with TRM Architect
Ours is a growing firm to which an emphasis upon the continual development of staff is a key component. We believe in exposing all aspects of the profession to allow staff to grow within an open firm organization to as high a level as the individual's abilities and interests. The staff is supported through in-house and out-of-house continuing education seminars, mentors, IDP support, internal project manager training and technology classes as well as other activities aimed at staff development.
In choosing architecture as a career, we believe that it is part of our professional responsibility to teach and to promote an appreciation for the impact architecture has on not just the profitability of a commercial venture, employee job satisfaction in an office, or performance in an educational facility, but on the quality of life of the community. This obligation to teach happens every day when dealing with clients and municipal authorities, but we believe in proactively reaching out to students, exposing them to the profession to gain a better understanding and appreciation, while bringing their own new ideas and points of view to the table.
While there is a time and place for displaying the correct level of respect for the work, the clients, and each other, our office has always been more about substance over the surface. The diversity people bring to the firm in different ethnic backgrounds, nationalities, gender, and schools of thought have all been an important part of our past success and remain a priority. It is our common work ethic and respect in an informal atmosphere that allows these points of view to be shared.
Architecture being rarely produced in a vacuum and even less often experienced in sterile isolation, we have chosen to work in a charged environment on the edge of the downtown Buffalo, New York where the historic Allentown District overlays the infrastructure of the technology corridor. While Buffalo's accessibility to the rest of the country and low cost of living make the firm extremely marketable, these aspects along with the four seasons, first class cultural institutions, strong professional sports, quality educational institutions, and many other criteria contribute to the high quality of life in Western New York.
